AND THE NEXT !

INTRO: Eph 5:21..."Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."

(KJV)

What is it that separates each of us and the various groups of the churches of God? Let's see what God says is the key...the trouble that causes our division.

S.P.S. I'm going to show you what God expects in our attitudes towards one

another and what a simple but difficult formula it is.

BODY: The same struggles we face in our lives today, were also experienced

by our forefathers in the first century church.

Paul gave instruction that was plain and to the point.

The FIRST POINT IS PARAMOUNT!

1 Cor 16:16 That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth

with us, and laboureth. (KJV)

Heb 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for

they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they

may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for

you. (KJV)

 James also gives account.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will

flee from you. (KJV)

 Peter instructs the early church.

1 Pet 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake:

whether it be to the king, as supreme; (KJV)

1 Pet 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of

you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God

resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (KJV)

It must have been a problem.

Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. (KJV)

Eph 5:21 Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.

(RSV)

Eph 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (NIV)

 Strong's # 5293 hupotasso (hoop-ot-as'-so);

from 5259 and 5021; to subordinate; reflexively, to obey:

KJV-- be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto,

(be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to,

under), submitself unto. (DIC)

This word is used several text in the new testament

Luke 2:51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject

unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

(KJV)

Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the

devils are subject unto us through thy name. (KJV)

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject

unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in

heaven. (KJV)

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not

subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (KJV)

Romans 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by

reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, (KJV)

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to

establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves

unto the righteousness of God. (KJV)

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no

power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (KJV)

Romans 13:5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also

for conscience sake. (KJV)

1 Cor 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

(KJV)

1 Cor 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not

permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under

obedience, as also saith the law. (KJV)

1 Cor 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all

things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted,

which did put all things under him. (KJV)

1 Cor 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son

also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him,

that God may be all in all. (KJV)

The entire universe is subject to God and works in harmony with Him, His

Spirit and His Son...the family of God and will work with all of us when we're

changed into the God family at our resurrection.

But first we must learn this very important lesson...being subject to one

another in the fear of God.

Respecting authority...following the government of God...doing God's will in

our lives.

The SECOND POINT ESTABLISHES THE FRAME WORK IN WHICH WE ACCOMPLISH GOD'S WILL

AND DO HIS WORK ON THIS EARTH...

Phil 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of

mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (KJV)

1 Thes 5:13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And

be at peace among yourselves. (KJV)

Strong's # 2233 hegeomai (hayg-eh'-om-ahee);

middle voice of a (presumed) strengthened form of 71; to lead,

i.e. command (with official authority); figuratively, to deem,

i.e. consider:

KJV-- account, (be) chief, count, esteem, governor, judge,

have the rule over, suppose, think. (DIC)

ESTEEM

1. hegeomai ^2233^ signifies "to lead"; then, "to lead before the mind,

to suppose, consider, esteem"; translated "esteem" in <Phil. 2:3>, KJV, RV,

"counting"; in <1 Thes. 5:13>, "esteem"; in <Heb. 11:26>, KJV, "esteeming,"

RV, "accounting."

2. krino ^2919^ signifies "to separate, choose"; then, "to approve,

esteem"; translated "esteemeth" in <Rom. 14:5> (twice), said of days; here

the word "alike" (KJV) is rightly omitted in the RV, the meaning being that

every day is especially regarded as sacred. See DETERMINE.

3. logizomai ^3049^, "to reckon," is translated "esteemeth" in <Rom.

14:14> (RV, "accounteth"). See ACCOUNT.

Notes: (1) In <1 Cor. 6:4>, KJV, exoutheneo, "to set at nought," is

rendered "are least esteemed"; the meaning is that judges in the world's

tribunals have no place (are not of account) in the church. See ACCOUNT. (2)

In the KJV marg. of <1 Pet. 2:17>, timao, "to honor," is rendered "esteem."

(3) For "highly esteemed," <Luke 16:15>, KJV, see EXALT, B.

2 Cor 9:5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they

would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty,

whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a

matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness. (KJV)

Phil 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of

mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (KJV)

worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted

the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy

thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? (KJV)

Heb 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed,

and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she

judged him faithful who had promised. (KJV)

Heb 11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures

in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

(KJV)

The problem with KORAH...WAS HE THOUGHT HE WAS AS GOOD AS MOSES...

not esteeming the work of God through Moses as God ordained.

Num. 16: Chapter. It's Moses' attitude we should focus on as we do Christ's...not

Korah's.

CONC: From these verses we see clearly the very attitude, spirit of God and

how He views proper behavior. He has instructed us to live this way in all

our affairs.

By keeping this ever before us, we'll submitt one to another in the fear of

God and esteem the other better than ourselves and work together in the work

of God and carry on with the GREAT COMMISSION.
